Cinematic Storytelling for Mission-Driven Organizations & Founders
Bring your vision to life for the people you want beside you.
What’s the untold story in what you’re building?
Some stories begin with a question you can’t leave alone… a problem, a craft, a discovery that keeps pulling you deeper. I follow that pursuit, uncover what others have overlooked, and give people a reason to take part in what you’re building.
I work with founders and leaders whose convictions I share to uncover the untapped and unshared stories and animating vision within their work. The latent potential, the forgotten questions and the vision that animates you, and the tangible human experience. Together we capture and share the hidden stories worthy of being told through language of documentary cinema, giving the people you most want to reach the deeper and human reason to care, connect, and take part in your mission.
My Quest: Bridging the best of Europe and America
American Frontier Spirit
European Cultural Depth
Rooted culture with frontier energy
We cannot build a beautiful future without first imagining it.
Art shapes the unconscious, it molds the dreamscape of the age, the sense of what is possible and what we should aim towards as people and as civilizations. Building possibility with other people requires going behind the conscious mind, sharing our imaginations with them, the things we feel and envision but lack the words for, casting our vision in the world.
My focus is on capturing the real stories that give these compelling visions a life that can be seen and felt, to rally those that most resonate.
Through real people, places and undertakings, we make beautiful and inspiring possibilities cinematic, artful, vital, exciting, and close enough to reach for.
The Unseen Stories
Documenting and presenting under-explored ideas and compelling visions with a connection to the beautiful, the true, and the noble aspirations of life is where my storytelling is specialized.
Through my work I bring intellectual thought, rooted culture, and fresh ideas together with the personal stories and emotional connection of real lives. Through cinematic storytelling, I make that synthesis tangible and tactile, connecting your audience to fresh insight, a beautiful vision, and real world connections to make transformation possible.
Cinematic Storytelling for your mission
Long-term value over forgettability.
Depth over disposability.
In a world of fast disposable content, I put value on the slow craft of sincere storytelling. My production process is personal, human, and intentional to capture the quiet weight of your work whether on a windswept coast, a frontier lab, or in a quiet workshop, valuing long term connection over fleeting attention.
What stories lie untold within your organization? What ideas or wisdom holds transformative potential but remains unexplored, forgotten, or discarded? Who is doing extraordinary work that people have yet to recognize?
Bridging Worlds
Amplifying Mission
-
Cultural & Faith Fluency.
Many production agencies view strong values, faith, and deep tradition as a hurdle to 'modern' content. I view it as the foundation. I specialize in "faith-literate" storytelling, crafting narratives that honor the spiritual and historical weight of your mission while making it accessible, compelling, and clear for a digital generation.

-
Human-Centered Narratives
Abstract ideas need a heartbeat. There is great value in weaving historical, religious, and philosophical themes through the intimate lived experiences of real people. Grounding high-level concepts and missions in raw, character-driven documentary storytelling, we turn topics into relevant emotional narratives that resonate deeply.

-
Unified Cinematic Vision
Fragmentation kills authenticity. I oversee the entire production chain, from story structure and direction to color grading and sound design.
This approach ensures a unified cinematic vision while maintaining a small, quiet footprint that respects your environment and voice.
I work with values-aligned businesses, entrepreneurs, and ministries to uncover that potential. Together, we use the language of documentary cinema to connect untapped ideas and meaningful missions with authentic experience, give compelling visions a tangible human presence, and move people to act.
A Scandinavian tech startup bringing a breakthrough to America, whose founders need to communicate its significance across different cultural expectations without losing the character and conviction behind it. A craftsman carrying knowledge that could disappear with him. A ministry whose deepest work happens quietly, in lives that never make it into the annual report. An entrepreneur pursuing an idea others dismissed, with the potential to change how we live.
I believe it’s critical to get out of the conference room and into the workshop, laboratory, forests, daily life, and community moments. I ask what you’re building, what others have misunderstood, what insights you carry, and what hangs in the balance. Through research, conversation, and time with your people, we find the characters, tensions, and lived experiences that give the films their substance.
The Importance of Resonance
True impact is about a lot more than impressions and views. True impact is about the deep resonance and shared actions with your target audience.
“In recent years, several traditional Lutheran and Catholic families have come together in a small rural community, where they — despite their theological differences — have found more common ground with each other than with modern society. In The Remnant: The Last Christians of Denmark, American filmmaker Matthew Eng set out to explore the lives, hopes and challenges of these traditional Christian families.”
The Remnant
A cinematic journey into the tensions of family, faith, land, and Scandinavian memory, built around the people and places where the struggles between modern life and rooted tradition are embodied.
A Legacy of Hope & Healing
A founder's story made tangible after his death through family testimony, archival rescue, and the living mission of Gift of Life Transplant House.
Embers
An independent slice-of-life documentary from Trondheim, Norway, tracing one student's search for ancestral memory, spiritual weight, and a living connection to the transcendent in a secular age.
Nice to meet you
Hi, I’m Matthew Eng, an independent filmmaker and digital media specialist shaped by Scandinavian tradition, aesthetic taste, and the pioneering ethos of America. I craft digital media for mission-driven organizations and brands across Scandinavia and the U.S. to bring their stories to life.
My work blends Scandinavian taste and tradition with American narrative drive, producing stories that are human, grounded, and purposeful.
Exploring the vastness of America from coast to coast, a country marked by beauty, contradiction, innovation, and a constant struggle for identity led me to look deeper: into history, into the Christian faith, and across the Atlantic back toward the places my ancestors left in search of new lands.
Traveling through Scandinavia, I found more than landscapes and family names. In places like Bergen, at the site of the rebuilt Fantoft Stave Church, and at Nidarosdomen in Trondheim, I found a profound sense of peace and spiritual clarity, a connection to spiritual instincts and our aesthetic languages, both ancient and new.
Since then I’ve returned to work with creatives, nonprofits, and faith-driven communities across the Nordic region and United States, helping them each share meaningful stories with beauty, emotional depth, and a principled narrative approach shaped by the Christian gospel, tradition, and philosophy.
I’m drawn to transformative ideas and the people who give them life. My work grows out of a deep connection to America and Scandinavia, a love of history and culture, and I’ve experienced the ways cinematic storytelling connects audiences to real people, meaningful missions,
Have a story you’re trying to share or a mission to convey? I’d love to hear from you.

I create cinematic digital media for brands and organizations with aligned values, committed to honesty, community, connection to nature, and meaningful impact.
Whether you’re a Scandinavian cultural group, a church looking to grow, a fitness brand, or a tech startup driven to genuinely improve lives, I help you communicate your mission through honest, atmospheric storytelling.
Authentic Moments
From testimonies to documentary short films, I create digital media that captures the heart of your mission. My approach blends a deep respect for Scandinavian taste with American storytelling ambition for teams pursuing excellence and authenticity.
Grounded Beauty, Sincere Filmmaking
Whether you are a Scandinavian organization reaching toward the U.S. or an American community reconnecting with its heritage, I am ready to bring your vision to life. Available for projects across the Nordic region and the United States.
Through cinematic storytelling, I bring the cultural depth, exploratory spirit, and inventive genius of Northern Europe into conversation with the ambition and frontier energy of America. These are living traditions I draw from, with deep roots and relationships on both sides of the Atlantic. Together we give powerful and latent ideas a human bond, cast light on untapped potential, and rally people around work and visions that carry legacies forward.
